Jim Sexton enters his second year as the administrative assistant for the men's track and field team after serving an integral part in Tennessee s 2007 SEC outdoor championship. His duties include organizing the travel schedules, budgeting, purchasing equipment and coordinating managers duties for the Vols.
Sexton, a Knoxville native and graduate of Central High School, lettered at Tennessee from 2004-2006 and served as a team co-captain in 2006.
During his collegiate days at Tennessee, Sexton inked his name on two all-time top-10 lists. His personal-best 35-lb. weight throw measurement of 68-2 1/2 ranks second in school history, and he ranks fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best effort of 210-0.
In 2006, Sexton won Tennessee s fourth individual SEC championship in the hammer when he outdistanced the field with a throw of 206-0. He also qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw. Sexton received the Career Achievement Award at the team s banquet following his senior season. Sexton graduated from Tennessee in 2006 with a bachelor of arts in geography.
